Marinela entered her first competition after around two and a half years in the industry.

She was so afraid of failing that she did not even want to share the participant banner online.

Marinela does not believe advanced techniques should come before a solid foundation.

How would you describe yourself in a few words?

I am confident in who I am and I love what I do. I do not give up easily.

My first love in the beauty industry was nails, but eyelash extensions became something much more important to me.

It is very detailed work. It requires patience, precision and a real eye for beauty.

For me, the greatest satisfaction is when a client looks in the mirror and leaves genuinely happy.

What do competitions mean to you?

Competitions mean stress, emotion, hard work and courage.

The first time I entered, I was terrified of embarrassing myself. I did not even post the participant banner because I was afraid of failing.

Then, at the awards ceremony, I discovered that I had won first and second place.

That gave me confidence.

Since then, I have competed in many championships in different countries and eventually became a judge and speaker.

As a judge, you have to be fair. You are judging the final result, but you do not know the person or the story behind the work.

What should someone know before learning eyelash extensions?

First of all, they need courage and patience.

Many women ask me whether the industry is right for them or whether they will succeed.

I always tell them that they cannot know until they try.

But they must start with the basics.

You cannot build the roof of a house before laying the foundations.

You need to understand hygiene, correct lash direction, the right amount of adhesive, isolation, eye shapes and how to work safely.

A strong foundation matters.

What is one of your training courses like?

A course with me includes information, practical work and ongoing support.

Students receive a manual, a kit with quality products and plenty of explanation.

I do not like rushing people.

I want them to understand what they are doing, not simply leave with a certificate.

After the course, I encourage them to come back and practise because many people become frightened when they are alone at home and start doubting themselves.

Support after the course matters enormously.

What would you say to women who want to enter the beauty industry?

Do not give up.

Choose your trainer carefully. Ask questions. Never be embarrassed because you do not know something.

Nobody is born perfect at a skill.

With patience, training, determination and practice, you can achieve far more than you may think.

Do not constantly compare yourself with other people.

Take the criticism that helps you improve and leave behind the criticism that only tears you down.

And never accept being treated without respect.

When someone comes to your course, they are placing their trust in you.

That trust should be supported, not judged.
